Boone County Bankruptcy & Debt Relief Help
In the not too distant past, I received a call from a couple in Boone County. I won’t identify them here but I’ll use their first and last initials – T.O. and P.O.
They had gotten my name and number from a former client, and from the first call, I knew they needed help…desperately.
T.O. has a disability which makes it very difficult to get around so I made arrangements to meet them at their home.
When I arrived for our first meeting, I could tell this couple was very upset.
They had an issue with back-taxes – and they were looking at losing their home in foreclosure proceedings.
As you can imagine, they were extremely worried about having to deal with the government about the taxes – and the bank about their home.
T.O. was in the trucking business, and like many businesses in this economy, it wasn’t doing as well as it once did. A once very successful businessman was now in a wheelchair, facing tax liens and foreclosure.
And his ongoing health issues had not only been preventing him from working but the medical bills were mounting as well.
While I was at their home, they asked a lot of questions – questions that were important to them – and probably important to anyone in this situation.
They wanted to know how they could pay their tax debt and get out from under the tax liens.
They wanted to know how to get their home out of foreclosure.
They wanted to know how to stop the harassing calls from creditors.
We sat and talked….and I answered all their questions, one-by-one. And then we began to make plans on how we were going to handle this problem through a bankruptcy proceeding.
Over the next 10 – 12 weeks, we met another three times, and when the the confirmation of their Chapter 13 was complete, this is what happened to T.O. and P.O.
All of their debt was settled and consolidated into one payment per month.
The tax debt was reduced and back-payments on the mortgage were taken care of.
Did they get to keep their home? Yes – and with a lower payment.
Did they get to keep their vehicles? Yes – and with lower payments on both.
This couples story is not unique. This is what is possible when an experienced professional is able to help.
